Just heard that certain SVPs, VPs and Directors in the oil sands and downstream business units got massive retention bonuses. Because of course the operators and engineers at the working levels don’t do anything, the Directors, VPs and SVPs of oil sands and downstream are holding up the entire company all by themselves

Sad they aren’t increasing retention bonuses for the Retail staff that are waiting for the deal to close. They deserve better.
Yeah just feed that rumour mill with your lies. Some people will believe anything. Watch Rebel ‘news’ much? Lol.
Dear god if they can get rid of more Husky mgmt I’m all for it regardless of the cost.

My skills are invaluable. Yours are not.
Heard the same rumour. Hate this company
Retention bonus' are to delay the exodus of leadership from a newly acquired company, given the historical trend for the acquirer to install their own people in management in the acquired company (surprise surprise, this is exactly what CVE did). Would you hang around knowing that they are going to let you go in the next X months? Or reach out into your network for the first opportunity for a longer term role?
Operators and engineers are less likely to leave during an acquisition given the lower risk of being released in a shake-up. Even if they do leave they can be easily replaced with contractors short-term.
Because they might of quit otherwise. LOL.
