Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022 Ford F-150 trucks due to a safety issue with steering column wiring.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the power-adjustable telescoping steering column connector wiring may be too short.
The hazards: wiring that is of insufficient length can become damaged or separate if the adjustable steering column is fully extended, which could increase the risk of an injury or crash.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components: steering column wiring harness.
Affected vehicles: select 2022 Ford F-150 trucks built between September 14th, 2021 and February 25th, 2022 at the Ford Dearborn Truck plant and truck built between October 21st, 2021 and February 24th, 2022 at the Ford Kansas City plant.
The fix: dealers will inspect the steering column wiring harness and repair the wiring if necessary, free of charge.
