Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Terminated Yesterday

Received a call from my agency yesterday morning saying that my contract with Ford ends the same day!

I had been feeling side-lined in my team for quite some time now, with almost no major project to work on since the last few months (courtesy of repeated re-orgs, or so I was led to believe!), and it all makes sense now. To be honest, this was one of the outcomes that I had anticipated too, and had been using some of my free time to up-skill and hatch a back-up plan!

It was certainly painful to see a blunt response from my manager to my message thanking them for the tenure, at which point all my sorrow, anger and shock transformed into plain indifference. I agree that I have not made million dollar contributions on my job, but still a simple “Thank You” would have been comforting at this point. But that’s ok, it’s unfair to expect life to be fair at all times, the best thing to do right now is to hunt for a new job with more vigor!

My heart goes out to all of us here, and hope we land a job very soon! And my heart goes out to ex-colleagues at Ford, hope things change and you don’t have to deal with the stress of job security while building cars! Farewell could have been more humane, but still, thank you!

I work as a tradesman at Ford facility where people used to crawl over each other to get hired in to. It's lost it's appeal lately. They have had a hard time getting people to fill positions. One of the last guys they hired quit after two or three weeks because he could do better elsewhere without the drama from those who think they are so special.

Best of luck to you and your family. I hate to see people let go on such short notice, especially if they actually worked. The good news is there's plenty of jobs out and I'm sure you'll land in a better spot.

If we have any wire harness designers in the house, NX, yes I know that's not Fords system, I can hook you up with a connection.

We can't hire them fast enough.

Stellantis is finally hiring after merger, plus the company profited 15billion last with disciplined management in place and dedicated staff. Most jobs are non engineering that are posted.

Apply to tooling companies. They have tons of positions and they can't find people.
Apply at Hirotec , JR automation, Esys.

Wish you all the luck!
