Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The big Ford lie

Here we go again. Ford taking jobs so they can “get people with the right skills set” it’s total BS. They target people with pensions and bias towards getting diversity numbers up as well as biasing promotions away from white males. They are still being sued from last round of layoffs and have been caught with email evidence trying to remove older employees so younger ones can grow.
They are keeping very quiet about the amount of new, young, cheaper, diversity biased new hires they have been and will continue to hire in the background. These people do not have any particular skills that set them apart from current employees. It’s sickening how the leadership continues to get over compensated for poor performance and corporate greed.

They may be doing this one differently from the last. Why? Because they got sued and caught. They just paid out on the law suit. All happened very quietly.
I can tell you with data as I was PDC and saw some of the highly confidential emails “we need to progress x-x people in to senior leadership positions. If necessary hold up the promotions of white males” This is not conspiracy it is unfortunate fact.

There were lots of BS when I was there. A big one was “one team” and just bragging about Ford is different we are like a Family

@1vfp agree that the true intention is to reduce pension liabilities
Disagree on the “ the rest were lower achiever sacrificial lambs”

The youngsters who got clipped in some areas were the highest achievers.
Like all Ford actions there was some pre-reductions activities where the good ole boy club moved around their friends to protect them. Two friends moved into a group, who have zero skills, two youngest members of the team clipped along with the two oldest GSR8s. Net result = loss of talent, gain of parasites.

Um Chrysler was in better shape when Fiat took over,.... Ford not so much. Jeep, Ram all money makers that got better under FCA. I feel sorry for the people at Ford and the ones let go this was in the making years ago as part of the global economy, and the woke anti ICE environmentalists.

@1gwf+1gs9JN1k yes they spread it out yesterday to hide their true intentions of lowering their pension liability. But make no mistake, that is at the heart of this. 600 people yesterday, but a good portion of them were hired before 2004. The rest were lower achiever sacrificial lambs.

Some of what the post I would agree but not the diversity portion so much. I 100% agree that they really want to hit the pension folks. I had an LL friend get walked out in 2019.
She was a Hi Pot worker.
If you look closely down in Mexico & Brazil the older commodities engineering and Purchasing is moving down that way. They even have a design center down there. So Body / Trim / ICE /PTI engineering are moving that way. This includes some EESE portions as well. You don't staff 770 EESE heads for no reason. NA does the upfront until "P" release then below the border takes over. This has been in the works for over 15 years.

Normally I would agree with the OP. But this time I seen first hand good, young workers with a great future with the company just get cut today. Of all races.

Leadership keeps saying we're uncompetitive. I say our LL5+ leadership is severely uncompetitive. Those ranks have got us here.

What does anyone expect otherwise? This is from the same company that pushed the sh-t until they could not anymore, and also let people float the idea about stopping making the police interceptors during the entire BLM fiasco two years ago, then had to put out a letter saying why they couldn't stop making them. "Go woke, go broke" = cause and effect.

Even if you aren't in this round of layoffs, if you are young get looking while the job market is strong. If you are eligible for the pension, make plans to go this years and take the pension in lump sum cash. I honestly don't think Ford has much time left as an independent company.....maybe two to three years tops before they either sell themselves, or are bought in a bankruptcy fire sale like Chrysler was a few years ago.
