Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The Management Manages

The quarterly allows Ford Management to avoid layoffs hitting the news, and avoid WARN act.

The stated goal is quarterly layoffs each under 500 salaried workers.

The layoff targets are those with highest cost - pension, health care, salary.

The quarterly reviews will be adjusted downwardly for the targets to provide legal shield

The layoffs are not correlated to poor job performance.

A higher percentage of stellar performers will be laid off as they inevitably have the highest salary.

Best wishes to those laid off in their future endeavors, may you find a company that appreciates and rewards your talent / enjoy your retirement.

Of course LL5+ are not affected, it is always the lower ranks. I have no trust, zero loyalty in this company anymore, they really showed their true colors when the AICP announcement was made and quickly revised it, after much backlash. How can a VP with any kind of morals and good conscience send out an email like that, knowing that he and his colleagues are getting more than double the amount.

Just as I suspected... I thought the numbers were much too lean when I heard them and Hau and Doug very much affirmed there could be future cuts- no doubt about it. My guess is they continue to hit the engineering ranks as they pivot the business to their vision of the next gen Ford Motor, whatever that is. Ironically, they don't even seem satisfied with their current generation of 'Next Gen' employees. These are management/so called leadership teams will never be satisfied with what they have, longing for Tesla's workforce. Interestingly, we don't see LL5+ with skin in the game either.

That said, I see them rotating to other skill teams in the upcoming quarters while continuing to hit engineering. They also did away with the formal PR so they don't have to put anything in writing- quarterly check ins are easily deniable, especially if your supervisor never has them with you. Hopefully, the press is savvy enough to pick up on this.
