Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Anyone else thinks that Allstate is not far from being sold?

I hear more and more speculation that Allstate could be sold eventually.

@eny+1graIU48 you aren't wrong, Progressive has a retention problem, Geico does as well, part of it is due to their claims issues in regard to repairs and dealing with body shops.

  1. Allstate is terrible at investing premium
  2. demoralizing sales leadership
  3. plenty of agents leaving
  4. sale is imminent
  5. Sale is definitely imminent

In the late 90s, Farmers was bought out by Zurich, a massive financial conglomerate. They have since treated Farmers as a cash cow. I suppose something similar could happen to Allstate but it would have to be bought by another massive conglomerate. I have no idea if this would/will actually happen.

I don't think so. Too expensive. Usually when insurance companies buy out other insurance companies it's smaller like under 10 billion. I doubt anyone would pay up 30 or 40 billion for allstate.

I'm hearing Progressive is getting cold feat with taking on the high loss ratios, out of control expense ratios, and the poor numbers coming in on the retention ratios.
