Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Sending jobs overseas

Allstate's drive to cut costs and maximize profits by outsourcing labor overseas is somehow understandable. It doesn't suit me, but it's clear to me why companies do it. Admittedly, to me all this looks like the leaders didn’t know what to do and in the end chose the simplest solution. What I would like to know is how will this affect Allstate in the long run?

Oh, for god's sake. Allstate isn't the only company hiring labor overseas. Ask yourself why it costs 1/4 of the cost in India to hire an employee and then you will be looking in the right direction. Hint: Burger flippers in the US now make $15-$20/hr.

I'm leaving the company in May. My role (held by a handful of employees), is being backfilled by people in Ireland. There has been some turnover with my role and all of the interviews they are conducting are candidates to be based out of ANI.

When a company feels that they need to reinvent their customer service processes every six months, there is a problem…..::
Other companies are doing it with consistent execution of common sense…
Allstate confuses their employees with constant process changes, frustrates them with micromanagement and overwork…
Not a formula for success…

Great American born companies selling their soul overseas. Allstate has attempted many initiatives and process changes since my hire date 1996. They mostly fail due to implementation issues and due greatly on poor planning. Reinventing the claim process over and over again has been a dismal failure for Allstate. Creating endless metrics and micro sub atomic management oversight has failed over and over again. Poor leadership for decades has never found the formula yet. The Allstate brand has suffered a severe wound over the past few years which may never heal. They will never regain the greatness once owned until a total leadership overhaul has been completed. They no longer want to be mentioned with the top insurance companies but feel comfortable now in the bottom tier. Very sad for an American Icon to tumble to such depths of despair.

Once the company looses more customers like their Sears and Kmart counterparts did due to their mismanagement, they will close, sell to Progressive or Geico or be on an episode of American Greed.
