Does Union Pacific abolish jobs/crews in retaliation for work injuries? We had someone on our group get hurt and it seems like somethings going to go down.

Some complaining here about unethical agreement employees being paid for false injuries. It is dishonest and should never be done by anyone. But what about the unethical management practice of punishing a group of people for the actions of one individual ? How is that different ? Its about the man in the mirror, doesn’t matter what the job title is.
YES
Former manager here. Yes they will abolish a gang local or car shop to eliminate problem children. Labor claims are filed frequently. Sometimes labor prevails sometimes they do not
It is the case that many employee have had 19 or 20 “ injuries” and payouts prior to the final incident when they’re ready to leave the railroad with a substantial kiss goodbye . Someone mentioned clerks and drivers in another thread. They literally bring their incidents from home onto the property to collect a payout.
Mass punishment is still not fair and they have literally abolished locals and mow gangs in retaliation for one person having an injury.
"If they worked under workers comp for a non union company they would have been fired long ago."
And this is yet another reason why unions run great companies into the ground. Forcing them to retain and continue to pay accident-prone people who should have been fired long ago. Once is an accident. Perhaps twice. 19? You're doing something wrong, or your situational awareness is just not up to the task.
No but you will get one less hot dog at the company Christmas party
No, that’s laughable. I worked with a conductor that had 19 injuries before he retired. It was a running joke that every spring he would “get hurt” and collect a settlement. He was never fired or disciplined. I know many others that gave 7-8 injuries. If they worked under workers comp for a non union company they would have been fired long ago.
