Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Where will the industry be in 10 years?

What are your predictions? How will things change? Who wins, who loses?

Well with more EVs come less of a workforce needed, meaning less jobs. Southeast Michigan will be particularly hit harder due to loss of good paying factory jobs along with the engineering force being downsized. The companies will be skeleton remains of what used to be and the surrounding economies will certainly take a hit.

1mgj,

The next generation have no idea how good things used to be. They will think times are good when they get 10 percent off on thier next Uber ride.

No idea. I don't doubt one day we migrate to a different type of power. but the question I have is there enough of a market for these EVs? Toyota who I think is a much better run company is looking at it as a gradual migration not bet the farm like Ford.
Then this data mining. Not thrilled with that one. The estimates for revenue are a bit too high for me to believe.

The mobility movement will bring about a less mobile future. Volumes will drop substantially as personal ownership becomes less convenient and more expensive.
