Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

The future here is uncertain

It is very worrying that State Farm continues to ignore the fact that the best people are leaving while the fresh new talent are not even considering coming here as an option.

What kind of future awaits a company that is unable to keep at least the most talented people?

@1xbf, If you can't understand the comments, they likely don't apply to you.

So I was told that what they pay retail workers today is competitive with what State Farm pays its claims employees, minus the stress. I did not believe it but today I saw that beyond hello, it’s a pot store in normal IL is starting the employees at 33K to 36k his prompted me to look at other retail stores in town and the pay is comparable. I am now wondering why I’m working in claims with high stress instead of working for another company with a lot less stress. I have a bachelor degree and am making close to what high schoolers working retail are making. All I can think to myself is it’s time to update my resume and go to a different company that actually cares about its employees

Just wondering where you can go and find a future that isn’t uncertain.

Except for the 50,000+ already working. If you can’ t find a job somewhere else then you are unemployable in today’s market.

TMs will tell you to do something and then coach you for following that exact directive. They will also outline expectations and then tell you that a different TMs team is "handling these situations differently". They will also tell you to do something which is in direct contradiction of the SCPs. No department has any consistency in handling and the company enables incompetent claim handlers, resulting in others wasting time reworking/correcting files - which directly impacts metrics. But management simply doesn't care. You'll get to a point of not caring either, and you learn to work the numbers so your metrics are outstanding and your TM leaves you the heII alone.

@1xbf - good post. I often marvel at the total lack of coherence in some of these posts. And I truly cannot fathom the poor spelling and grammar skills on display. I always thought that it was a good idea to use the right words, and to spell them correctly, when trying to communicate with others. Perhaps I am in the minority......

Their goals is to pump the spreadsheet numbers as much as possible, while disregarding the future directions, and the mental health of employees.

Hard to read these comments, not sure what half of them mean. Take a few seconds to ensure your comments are even comprehensible.

Remember management is a sales job without a commission. They are now dealing with trying to sell a refrigerator at the north pole. They honestly have drank so much kool aid they believe you need one. They're incompetent to deal with reality. Welcome to Disney Farm.

"According to my team manager......" BWAHAHAHA… thanks, I needed a laugh after a day of calls doing re-work and botched handling kicked to INJ from EXP & AILR.

For anyone new, at SF believe the exact opposite of whatever your TM and above says. I’ve only been here 2yrs and things are barely recognizable from when I started.

"According to my team manager......" Never ever trust management. Trust is earned not bought and sold.

According to my team manager in injury claims, the turnover is in line with previous years. He wouldnt specify if this was all of SF or just claims. I know SF has not given a retention bonus that I know off in claims, so that tells you something.
