Managers have been instructed to "play favorites" by the R.V.P.
This is a tactic used to weed out employees that don't fit the new hire criteria.
Another tactic used is overworking the employees they want gone, most people have called out this practice, because they would be doing most of the grunt work while others did very little.
It's also a way to get the full time/part time ratio lowered.
Have you noticed most "favorites" are the part time employees who work for low pay, and no benefits? Or the full time employees that are friends with or related to the store manager? This is a problem that Belk has created themselves. It's not just at a few stores.

This Belk company is as good as it gets. Why would we want to work some where else? The best is yet to come! Trust me!
Good grief!
You can't have a million dollars dream with a "minimum wage" work ethic! Wake up Belk CEO, wake up Belk Store Managers or you will find yourself alone on a sinking and shrinking Belk Titanic!
If you are not blind and can walk all day or low IQ and can work for $12 per hour. We need you at Belk right now! Flexible schedule, competitive pay, fun to work, nice management.
Can you do heavy lifting at 50lbs? We forget to ask?
thats why stores have no applicants or the people that do apply dont show up the next day.
