Recruiting for AI and ML professionals is red-hot, and Chevron has to settle for the 2nd or 3rd tier candidates. Recruiting for petrotechs is irrelevant, Chevron will continue to only recruit at the legacy schools of high management. It has been that way as long as I've worked for Chevron.

In just about all positions, quality, high-value people are going to go to growth industries, not O&G. Petrotechs are in ample supply, with decreasing emphasis on oil there is little need to worry about future staffing.

Hard finding petroleum engineers, electrical engineers and designs engineers. Better options elsewhere.

The company should start respecting IT workers. People like MW despise IT. If you want quality people then start paying and respecting IT.

it's very hard to find folks in IT, especially if they are skilled in the Cloud tech or specialized packages/technologies. Data is hot right now, Cloud Solution Architects, Engineers, etc. AI and ML skills are hot too. There was a candidate that only had 6 years of experience and she was asking for $200K salary (she was in Big Data). It's crazy.
