Bronco flat tow puzzle solved, just….

Great fix. Bet customers are impressed with our solution!

One of the more compelling features of the new, sixth-generation 2021-2022 Ford Bronco is its ability to be flat-towed, which is important for those that want to bring their Bronco along on camping trips and other excursions. However, in recent weeks, some owners have reportedly had issues with an inconsistent brake assist when flat towing their Ford Bronco due to a problem with the electronic brake booster (EBB). FoMoCo is currently working on a fix for this problem via a software update that is expected to roll out in September, but Bronco Nation recently posted a workaround that will allow owners to flat tow their SUVs in the meantime.

Owners must first place their Bronco in neutral tow mode and then open the hood, close all doors, and wait five minutes for the vehicle to enter sleep mode. Then, locate the fuse box under the hood and remove the cover before taking out both 60-amp fuses – numbers 28 and 29. From there, owners can install the supplemental braking system on the vehicle following the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Taking the Bronco out of neutral tow model requires simply following these steps in reverse and reinstalling the fuses.

This quick fix will undoubtedly prove useful for a number of Ford Bronco owners as production has ramped up significantly over the past few months. In fact, Ford Bronco sales exceeded Ford Bronco Sport sales in April, though it still trails its little brother year-to-date. Bronco sales are also starting to eat into its main rivals – the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4Runner.

When I was read “… and then open the hood, close all doors, and wait five minutes for the vehicle to enter sleep mode.” I thought this was a bad Microsoft joke!

Does this mean towing a 4Runner or Wrangler has a more complicated process. Don’t think so and calling horse feathers on the comment that Bronco (with all the programming puzzles required) is eating into anyones volumes.
