It’s because of fear of being let go … if you count on your income, it is scary to negotiate and think you could be out of a job. People have different circumstances in their lives that make them feel more vulnerable (e.g., illness in the family, financial constraints, etc.). I wish everyone the best, whatever that means to you personally.

They only do it because you allow it. Stand up for yourself. I don't take on increased responsibilities without an adjustment in compensation... why do you?
