Backroom pay

Can someone explain to me why backroom does all that extra work yet you can push carts for the same pay? This can’t make sense to anyone right?

At my club back room makes no bales, floor people or maintenance do these. Floor merchandisers help unload and run out freight everyday. We are receiving too much freight every single day. It is ridiculous how much freight is being forced out from our DC'S, so of course they need help. They need to have one full time associate to work in claims. It is stupid that they think this is sustainable, when it is not. All they do is damage out everything and throw away in compactor. This is why we have people breaking into these compactors overnight and take as much as they can. They know Sam's throws away good things they can either use or sell. They work at least 50 hours weekly. Give them help!!!!

Please, you could train even the slowest of crayon eating mouth breathers to do receiving in a day.

Because it takes a lot longer than a day to learn everything for the back room. Doesn’t really take long to train someone to push carts from the lot to the door 😉

Get this, our club hired a new PM TL, who apparently makes a lot more money than the other TL's doing the same job....And one more thing, isn't it the TL's job to do the audits. This guy says to delegate to the floor people. Not right, just not right.

Wonder why backroom associates are long term 15+ year associates, and carts are short termers with high turnover. Backroom is for the lazy entitled whiners.

I’ve done both. Back room is the hardest. That being said I don’t really care if a easier job gets paid the same 😉. (Not original poster)

Why don’t you go push carts if you think you should get paid more than them. Those guys bust their as--s off everyday none stop in the heat, rain, snow whatever weather it is, while you backroom associates hide in the back. I would like to see you switch jobs for a day and see if you last outside. Leave those guys alone and be grateful they are bringing in carts so you don’t have to go out and get them

Worked carts and now back room. Both have their ups and downs. Carts u don’t need a brain and back room u don’t need any muscles.

Why take it out on the cart guys?! Put your anger on home office where it belongs. Stop attacking the rest of us.

U think pushing carts is easy??? Switch jobs n try it out for awhile. The weather, it's unpredictable, u r inside and don't notice that, but outside there is no options.

Your job is cake, and you know it. However, since you're totally not a lazy sack, I'm sure they'd allow you to switch to carts.

I work in the backroom and I would make $1 more an hour if I left to become a forklift driver . Does home office not get that ALL backroom associates have to drive a lift as well otherwise the trucks don’t get unloaded! On top of doing claims, pay the bills, do the paperwork, making sure a pallet trailer comes several times a week, do a plastic bale, check in the local vendors make sure the backroom is clean.. we have a 2nd shift but they barely unload DC’s, so we get stuck with all of those too. Not sure why we even have a 2nd shift… not sure what they do for 8 hours

At our club, they keep hiring second shift backroom people but as forklift drivers to “make it fair”. How fair is that? Only first shift people are actually keyed as backroom associates, do ALL of claims, ALL bills and paperwork, are the only ones that get emails about dcs (trucks we usually don’t even unload), fix ALL the mistakes!! And all at a lower pay grade. But they won’t key US as forklift drivers. What a joke. Don’t know why I stay.

….to continue, you should also note they did the same thing to the hourly asset protection associates. I was told they are still trying to “figure” out what to do with both areas. It sucks, it’s why I work by myself during the day. No one wants to go to the back for so little and no forklift driver wants to take a pay cut in order to do more work.

Wouldn’t it be great if they would actually tell us their thought process? For this reason, I’m no longer going above and beyond. One thing, I stopped opening the compactor and make everyone find a TL or Manager. It’s a small thing, but makes me happy.
