Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Is this a good time to change jobs?

I hope that it will not happen but I think that recession will be very hard to avoid. Some of my colleagues are already saying that there could be significant cuts. I’ve been here for six years and I’d love to look for another job, but I’m unsure if it's a good idea to start at another company in these uncertain times.

Have an exit strategy that you share with NOT A SOUL. I did that and hit them up with a good bye I'm retiring early when "they" thought I couldn't. Best thing that ever happened to me except for my wife. When you implement your strategy, walk away with a smile on your face feeling sorry for those that live in their misery.

It really does depend, even within the same department like Underwriting. Some folks are going to go through a harsh reality in the next few years, but others are going to be dealing with outdated systems until they die.

Probably the best advice is to do good work, but always have an exit strategy.

Better get your house in order. Major changes coming to Agency and Operations. Operations shifting to 50% AI and will be doing policy changes similar what happens in Agent offices. Agency will be 95% focus on sales, servicing as we know it today will be phased out. Unfortunately service compensation will also be dramatically impacted. Having the new web base phone system in Agency, will be the only way to do business in the future. Sales leaders and Specialist positions will be phased out, replaced by hub support units. I think you should be worried less about a recession and more about how much business we lost because we couldn't stick to insurance.

There is going to be a claims announcement later this year that will make the reorganization and operating plan changes over the last decade seem like child’s play. This will open up an entirely new approach to auto claims. This needs to be done on current CEO’s watch rather than the future new one……

Claims has been working mandatory OT for more than a year. Recession with policy loss and increased gas prices won’t cause any lay offs as the staffing will be proper at that time.

If I wasn’t in a customer contact position I’d be worried. Claims isn’t cutting anyone , we can’t hire enough staff to replace those that leave.
