Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Time to get the resume together

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/23/broadcom-vmware-deal-could-be-announced-by-thursday-sources-say.html

I'm still hoping that this deal won't go through and that this will not be a sad Thursday, although judging by this article it seems that the acquisition is quite certain.

If you are in IT, HR, Finance, Marketing, I would encourage you to start looking. Wait for the severance package though.
Some employees may end up in transition with an end date.
Engineering, R&D should be fine for the most part. However, brace yourself for massive cuts. Experienced first hand so sharing.
Hope this helps

VMW became way too bloated. Combine that with the low stock price and someone is going to buy it. As painful as that can be, you are better off with Broadcom doing it as they at least give decent separation packages if you do get laid off.

Also, if you work in IT, you should always have your resume up to date and available to employers (i.e. LinkedIn, etc). Never wait for acquisition rumors to get started.
