Cool story, bro.

Not sure it was worth digging up a month's old post on an 18-month old thread, though.

I am not in Broadcom.., one of my VP in previous company once said a Broadcom acquisition is not a good situation for engineering in that company.

Really depends on what BC an VMW offices are kept. If there is an office you are expected to be there, they run badge reports etc….period.

Can someone please explain what a work from home contract even entails? I live in a state with zero broadcom or vmware offices. Thanks.

Broadcom will close smaller offices and give work at home contracts to those remaining.
We were an office of about 125 before the Broadcom acquisition and ended up with 35 people when it was all over.
They closed our office, paid whatever penalties and made us work at home.
This is common in non Broadcom growth centers.

I was at Symantec and held a technical sales position. No longer there (thanks God!) but I know my buddies all work from home.

If you think be acquired by Broadcom is bad based on what you heard or read, believe me, it’s worse. Brace yourselves for several months of uncertainty, brutal cuts and slowing down innovation. They will sell several pieces of VMware and keep whatever makes sense (bye CB!).

Brace yourselves. Severance is usually good but remember the market will be flooded people looking for jobs in your area so chose wisely.

WFH - it isn't so clear cut. There is a message sent out shortly after every merger reiterating that WFH is not allowed. And this message is targeted at the new employees, but it won't say so. What it means is if you are assigned an office you are expected to work from it. How much leeway you get will depend on your local management, but OFFICIALY you work from the office. If your management is at another offce you can get away with anything you want. As the company doesn't like too much real estate it will close down offices it doesn't like (expense, location, etc) and you will get a WFH contract. EMEA less office space more WFH. Sales - get out and sell!

I am a new grad and will join VMware in July. What will happen to New Grads? Should I look for new grad position for another company? Please advise, I am getting worried.

This is 100% false. Please don’t post disinformation. Been with Broadcom for 5+ years and have not once set foot in an office outside of travel for team meetings.

What about full-time remote workers? Will they be allowed to continue remote?

Good luck with that if they acquire VMware.

Not true. Or only partially true. I am in sales and I am 100% WFH. All engineering roles are 'in-office' so no WFH for them.
