It is not uncommon for an employee who didn't enjoy a particularly high status at Dell to become a star employee in another company. Most of the employees here do not even try to share their good ideas because they know in advance that they will not be heard. Why such a culture was created, I do not know. It used to be a lot different here.

Which is why EMC people are leading all the strategic emerging business units, right?

Pay for performance and meritocracy are things of the past for this company.
Definitely one of the worst deals of MD

Because Dell is a freaking assembler of parts which purchases from China, nothing more. One of the most inconsequential and unimportant large companies in the entire US tech industry. Wake up!
hmm. Not sure I agree with this post. Maybe your idea wasn't very good
When I started at Dell new ideas were respected and valued. But something really changed about 3-4 years ago and the culture has become toxic. If you share an idea a manager will complain at you for trying to do anything complicated (because that means they themselves might have to actually do some work for once— can’t have that interrupt their cushy middle management life). The only ideas and votes that matter are your VP’s, even if they make no sense, so don’t rock the boat.
It’s really sad how bad the culture has gotten recently because it used to be so respectful.
