I was laid off four years ago this month in the cuts to IT...best thing that ever happened to me.
Not immediately, mind you: I spent almost two years working contract gigs, low pay, no benefits, no job security. But I kept looking for better, and eventually landed the best job of my life with a huge raise, full benefits, full-time work from home.
If you're here reading this, you can do better than this dumpster fire of a dying company, I guarantee it. Don't let the fear of the unknown stop you: Companies have never been more desperate for employees and they're at the point where they're willing to give people they never would've considered in a million years a shot. Now is the time to jump ship and find new work, not during the next economic crisis when everyone cuts staff and you have to compete with hundreds of fellow unemployed to even get an interview, never mind an offer. Freshen that resume and get cracking.
I found this buried in replies of an old thread. I figured more people needed to read this. Credits go to OP, @cutf+1er8TBaB.
