Families struggle with Windstream internet service

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - Phone and internet service are two things many of us depend on every day.

However, neighbors who live along Lost Lick Road in Greenup County say their phone and internet is down at least once a week. Their provider is Windstream.

One neighbor tells us a life-saving device that he depends on is useless without internet.

“That’s my life,” Frank Gamble said. “It’d probably save my life. It’s a shocker. If I go to sleep, and my heart quits, it shocks me.”

Gamble says he’s reached out to Windstream numerous times, hoping for a stable solution.

“They need to do something to the phone lines there. These phone lines have been here since I was a kid,” Gamble said.

WSAZ reached out to Windstream to get a better understanding of why neighbors like Gamble are experiencing unreliable service.

Over the phone, we’re told copper lines, which are considered older technology compared to Fiber Optic cable for example, runs through that area of Lost Lick Road. It’s a rural area that crews haven’t been able to upgrade yet.

Windstream says as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, they have sent their local manager to the area. They’re looking at the network and connections to see what may be causing an issue and if there are any damages to the lines that need repaired.

I used to occasionally work in non Windstream areas and it was funny people that had AT&T would ask if were were coming to town, and say they hope we were coming into their area. I was amazed to hear that, if they only knew how bad we were, customers hate us in our territories. AT&T may be worse though.

And the guy running ops now wants us to participate in one of those 1990s assessments of strengths and weaknesses!! LMAO. Instead of figuring out how to keep peoples phone and internet, he is telling the local managers (lackeys with no future), to pay all techs an hour to take the assessment on line. Worst management in the history of business. They must have a ton of government money to waste on this stuff(plus payoff unity, Elliot, and a federal judge)

LMAO. You cant tell anyone where you work or wear any kind of shirt with w/s on it out in public where I live. You will get the same results. People telling you how they hate w/s. So why do we worry about a name change instead of upgrading to fiber with all the money we get from uncle sam and those grants? Why cant we focus on what needs to be done and not collaboration or inclusion or other useless ideas. We make up diversions to try to hide the stuff we don't want to, or know how to fix. Why has the bad management been allowed to stay for so long if they cant get the titanic righted? I may sound stupid but i do not understand how they are still here

I made the mistake once of letting my hair stylist know I worked at WS. Had to listen to her complain the entire time I was there about her service and support.
