Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Employees panic as sales tank and Barnes & Noble nears the end

I've been talking to B&N employees from all over the country and all are seriously worried about the company. Sales have been worse than disappointing and stress is at an all-time high. Everyone has been joking about the latest news on Nook, yes, people still talk about that disaster.

Meanwhile, stores continue to close faster than employees quit the company. Atlanta is replacing B&N with a Marshalls while Goodwill is moving in the Arizona store. Is your store next?

The real question here is, why are you still working for B&N?

“ B&N really treats their employees horribly and it all goes back to the regional managers and corporate execs, they set the model. ”
Sums the company up, perfectly.

The funny thing about the Arizona store that was replaced by a Goodwill is this. I decided to make a special visit there, as it is about a two hour drive from my home. The store was a mess. Also, the worst part was the cashier, she said she had just transferred to that store from somewhere else in the country. I wonder if BN knew they were closing up to six months before the announcement? Pretty sh---y to treat the employees like that either way. Down with BN and Daunt.

Despite management’s lies that we’re “safe”. We Booksellers see the truth daily. Less customers. No room on shelves because Of low sales.Hours being cut. No business can survive this.

I'm new to this site and I've read most of the comments and highly agree.
Losing good workers seems to recurring theme with this company. B&N really treats their employees horribly and it all goes back to the regional managers and corporate execs, they set the model. I swear our store has lost half of our employees within the last 6 months with more set to leave. And our sales suck too, I can't believe we're still hanging in there. I'm lucky I'm only working here part time for extra cash because I certainly wouldn't put up with the abuse the key holders put up with. The company is very much like Sears was before it finally closed. And it's only a matter of a short time for B&N.

No, the real question is why keep posting anything about B&N?
