I almost wish they start layoffs again so I won't feel so paralyzed about cutting the cord and moving on to another company.

Is perpetual backlog normal at this company? Seems like it. Everyone was backlogged when I started a few years ago and everyone is backlogged now. No one can do their work properly because it’s flying at us so fast.
I and most of my team is feeling the same way. Morale is at an all time low. People are calling off left and right because of burnout. And of course “leadership” is clueless.
You are not alone. It’s this horrible pandemic and all the repercussions because of it. Hang in there. Keep trying.
