Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Debacle in the announcement

The first thing that came to my mind when I heard about the separation of ICE and EV business was whether both divisions would then be terribly understaffed given that people are quitting left and right? I don't understand the decisions of this leadership.

I’m glad I took the package out but I still care about the company. I’ve seen this movie before and it is not going to end well. So all legacy costs stay with ICE and EV is set free and the stock is split too? The wizard of oz would be proud.

After you have been around the block a few times you recognize behavior patterns and the inevitable results of those behaviors. It is a mystery why people are unable to learn from the mistakes of others. Likely every “leader” thinks they are smarter than everyone who has gone before them.

It never ends well when a company decides to bleed the cash cow to fund an unprofitable venture.
It never ends well when a company books paper “profits” on vapor.
It never ends well when a company buys up multiple companies unrelated to their core business.

I know a lot of people see a huge leadership conspiracy to eliminate swaths of people, but really it is easily explained via pure incompetence. With each new and shiny initiative they truly believe their own press releases and are shocked when someone scratches the gold plating on the carefully buffed trd revealing what lies under the surface. Then sht hits the fan, layoffs ensue, and another gold plated t*rd is served up for us to genuflect to.

Announce a new direction for the company only to distract from quality, and launch issues.
DPS6 fiesta, & focus debacle still haunts and costs ford warranty and repeat customers.
Why would anyone not employed or retired from this company trust them based on past lies and cover ups???
You either produce quality products or you don't it's that simple.
Henry for is rolling over in his grave, and the asians and Dr Demming are laughing.....hey jim,Smoke and mirrors only got the snake oil salesman so far.

Many people that don't have pension or are years out from retirement are looking for work elsewhere. Ford is not stable anymore, not is it appealing to most talent outside of auto. The average age at Tesla for their employees is 30, Ford is right around 50.

So we are going to concede F150 sales to GM? Doesn't sound like the Blue cost cuts include much investment in product freshening. Will this be like years ago when we dropped the over 100k unit Windstar/Freestar or 3 plants making Ranger and replaced them with nothing?

Well Billy had the ball once before and he fumbled it. The family runs the
Lions and well that speaks for itself. Just Look at Stafford!!!!!
He invested nearly $1bn in company money (not his) on the train station. Might as well buy the Packard plant while you are at it Bill. In simple plain English. You are clueless. That Town Hall made me sick. That chat with the KOOL AID people stating I am a volunteer. OK I will say it. It's Just a Job... You can have it.
I have had enough of the BS the two of them spew. Then Farley in the TH did not even bring up the cost targets with Kumar. I looked at that stage and all I want to do is SHORT the stock. I feel sorry for those left. I hate to see anyone hourly/salary/ or agency lose their job. Good luck to those that are left

Not only are people quitting but they're doubling down on another SRD. Another voluntary? Maybe but that won't get us anywhere close to the $3B. Farley can now easily sell job cuts to Wall Street and they would applaud it in the wake of this split. Buckle up!

Easy to understand my friend. Making unintelligent major business decisions that cause people to leave on their own accord is a great way to reduce headcount on the cheap.

Bill and HR don't care one bit about being understaffed. It is what they want. Then they can brag about being lean to wall street.
