Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Pat let’s the truth slip out on TMG

“ The other thing I’ve said is that, “Hey, I’d like to do a Mobileye-like spin on our foundry business at some point as well.” I’m going to keep the structure, as opposed to integrating as much, I’m going to keep it more separate to enable that, which means I’m going to leverage a lot more of Tower and the expertise that it builds over time as part of it.”

Looks like fab lite to me and TMG is going to get a complete restructure, TMG VP, fellows and Gr8-11 ppt masters are you ready !

Lol, Tower hasn't launched a new node since 45nm. Good luck everyone!

The "senior management deadwood" purge should be done with the Graphics team as well. It took less time to put a man on the moon (from JFK's speech in May 1961 to the Apollo 11 landing in July 1969, so a little over 8 years) than for Intel to ship an actual discrete GPU (if you count LRB that started in earnest in 2008). Not to mention the Windows graphics driver is still a broken mess.

TMG managed to convert a multi-year technology lead into a multi-year lag in just under a decade. Pat clearly needs to do something to keep TMG from falling further behind. A deep purge of the senior management deadwood would be a good start. I can't blame the individual contributors because their good ideas are often thwarted by the politics of upper management.
