Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Disagree

The thing is is, Windstream is dead. They have let go of all the good employees. The ones that are left are just hanging on..hoping to get a layoff package. They've destroyed employee morale and want you to feel lucky to have a job with them. They watch every move on the GPS..almost like USIC does. They are not operating i6n the real world I've been offered almost 37 an hour to leave this fu---d up place. I think I might be gone.

I disagree with forecasts of Windstream's imminent death.

The ILEC will survive, especially in areas where residential customers have fiber. Windstream's fiber is stealing customers away from Spectrum. We're all pretty happy.

Cable broadband was designed to optimize download speeds over upload speeds to squeeze bandwidth out of the existing coaxial cable. In an age of working from home and gaming, fast uploads are needed, too.

On top of that, Spectrum has helped by failing to invest in its local network's bandwidth so even download speeds are inadequate.

The first ISP to offer true FTTH to a neighborhood has a dominant advantage over competitors assuming it aggressively markets it.

It seems like FTTH is a fairly simple technology once it's installed. It helps that our fiber here was installed by the previous ILEC, Concord Telephone Company, a very well-run company. Windstream finally lit it up 10 years after buying CTC.

Wndstream's ILEC enterprise business is more challenged.

As for the CLEC, I'm not a user, but from all I read, I'm not sure how it can survive (other than the wholesale fiber business).

I was at Windstream for almost 16 years, top rep on my team. The last 4 years I was doing three people's jobs. Management ignored my concerns and continued to pile on work as they thought I'd never leave the company. If you do a great job, they will continue to overload you until they break you. I found a new job, way better benefits, and a 25% pay increase. When I put my 2 weeks notice in they were mad and treated me like cr-p for my last 2 weeks. To top it off, they told me they weren't paying me out my remaining 2 weeks vacation because I wasn't working a full 10 business days before my departure, and that I wasn't eligible for rehire. Good!!! I'd never go back anyway! In my 40s and this is the first time in my life that I have loved my job! So scary to start over, but so worth it! Don't let Windstream break you down! Windstream sucks but there are lots of good people that work there and other companies would be happy to have you!

It would be better if Windstream tried to keep paychecks even with inflation so employees could concentrate on their jobs and tasks. Windstream Leadership decided to go a different direction as this has been a sore spore for 98% of the employees over 10 years now. I have adjusted my work effort to match Windstream's policies.
New Employee Culture Mottos.
LEADERSHIP - "If we don't care, why should You"
HANG IN THERE - "At least until Execs finish fooling the BoD and get their latest Bonus"
PERSEVERANCE - "Keep Telling the same lies until someone believes"

I knew a guy that side gigged as a bartender. He had plenty of money but he barely saw his kids, he ended up divorced, and his life was a complete mess. Ended up being told to resign or be fired because his job performance at his dayjob was so poor.

Totally worked a side gig as a bartender for 10+ years while employed at WS. I was making more money than my boss was. He was taking more money from his Heloc for stuff and I was always paying cash. it works!

I could do my job better if I did not need to stress about paying bills. For years I tolerated the abysmal pay check adjustments. Now I barely can concentrate due to the economic stress. So the side job suggestion is looking very appealing

Windstream is the type of company that coddles management and gives little care about others. I say stay until the bitter end, milk the constantly devaluing paycheck and work a side job during normal business hours. If you quit they hire a new chump, if you stay and get laid off a manager loses a position resulting in a loss of security for their position. More to come

If anyone has an offer on the table at this point take it!

Some will say " the grass isn't always greener " but the mental and financial health
Is more important than being employed at windstream.
