Not to beat on a dead horse here, but
with regard to ppl assuming that co-workers had the same 2hr commute pre-pandemic, you should realize that many offices closed or relocated and it's the newer commute that may be untenable. That said, I'm sure there are plenty of ppl that have just gotten used to the covid commute, rolling out of our bed to the desk. Either way, ppl are all entitled to an opinion.

"Don't be mad at a company, be mad at the people who in various forms and through multiple actions have put feelings over the livelihood of their loved ones and peers."

What does this mean?

Why did you accept a job 2 hours away from where you live? I understand and agree with the gas but the commute was there before.

Hopefully the lack of mean tweets from the current president make up for the current economic state. Great trade off there. Don't be mad at a company, be mad at the people who in various forms and through multiple actions have put feelings over the livelihood of their loved ones and peers.

Wow, based on these comments I can't believe some of you are my coworkers and are the same people I generally enjoy working with. There are a LOT of reasons why someone may not want to work in an office right now. For Example: Don't want to accidentally pass COVID to a loved one, dont want to spend 2 hours commuting (where as those 2 hours were previously spent working & can't move any closer to the office because rent has gone up a ridiculous 25% since 2021), don't want to spend the gas money at $4+/gallon when their entire team is in different locations so absolutely ZERO collaboration happens in the office, desk is in a noisy spot so working in the office is far less productive, had better work-life balance with WFH, etc etc etc etc. The nice thing is that Crown needs to do what is best for themselves and so does each employee. For anyone is wants to be WFH full time, there are a ton of companies out there that have permanently moved to this model over the pandemic. A quick google search of "best work from home jobs telecom" brings back a ton of results. It's a FIERCE market out there, companies are hurting for experienced employees so taking the leap and switching to 100% remote position is always possible.

Why do you you think your sick co-workers are disposable?

Some people would cut off their arm if it meant they could work from home… I am sure there are other companies lining up for your great work ethic. Don’t keep them waiting.

Just lose weight and you'll have nothing to worry about. Even before the Vax there was little risk, now you guys are just being ridiculous.

Awwww, poor feelings were hurt and my previous response was deleted?

Go find another place to work, crown is an amazing company, nothing is keep you at it if you think you’re owed something else. Get to work.

There are a lot of rude people in these comments. I’m immune compromised and I don’t care if I catch Covid or not. I have natural immunity. My doctors told me not to get the shot, but refused to sign my waiver so I had to get a religious exemption.

If people are legitimately scared, then they will be less productive in those fear inducing situations. Covid or not - it doesn’t matter what the underlying condition is. If these fearful individuals get the option to work remote, then everyone should get the opportunity.

The goal for the organization should be in alignment within previous initiatives like smart and fa-t. We should allow remote work for anyone that wants it - just like how we allowed people to work in office during Covid.

This seems more like a straw man argument to get remote work. I would focus on leading with a solid point and then trailing off with less effective reasons:

We need remote because it worked perfectly for 2 years, we do not have meetings in person at the same office, commuting emissions, Covid, school districts with quarantine policies, cost of living surpassed raises and commuting is no longer affordable, etc.

It seems like the majority shareholders (EMT) want us working in the office more than we do. What’s stopping us from teaming up and forcing the organization to accept us as remote employees? Maybe next Wednesday when we are all supposed to be in office would be a good day to work remote. The office would be funny with only managers showing up. It’s like senior skip day, but we stay home and work instead of having fun.

Remote is the future & bring on the 4 day work week. Crown is supposedly a leading infrastructure/telecom business yet can't seem to get out of it's own way and embrace technology.
Why spend money recently leasing entire office floor in NYC, along with additional office spaces elsewhere while other businesses embrace the current trend of reducing or closing offices altogether. Is someone on board or EMT have stock/relative at Colliers?
