Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Fireside Inflation

Did anyone catch the CEO saying we should disregard the headlines regarding inflation rates? Anyone else interpret this as our CEO claiming inflation rate is fake news” or is that just me?

I get the feeling he’s not shopped for his own milk in a decade. Our leaders should take note from Logan Roy. Price of milk has increased while quantity has decreased. This is literally inflation.

Turns out Witty gave himself a nice 40% pay bump of +$5.3M. This man has no integrity lmao

The American empires does NOT care about its tax and debt slaves. Employees are to serve their oligarchs. Smile, clap, eat hot dogs, and consume MSM propaganda.

Witty and his cronies do not care.... Inflation is going to wreck the middle class. Tons of great people are leaving. He thinks employees are id--ts, necessary casualties and or daring you to leave.

Maybe inflation will only be high for a few months. Yes, Witty actually said those words during the fireside chat! He has no shame.

No inflation according to the CEO but announced today that companies are increasing services directly due to inflation; Uber announced a gas surcharge, Airline ticket pricing went up on average $20.00, Vehicle purchases. Hmmmm but let’s all be told to pretend the “fake news” by leadership. Not to mention we have visibility to how much gasoline cost last year and now- there are those things called price signs outside the gas station.

I am assuming he is still refuting the CPI reporting at 7.9% that was just released this morning and well known as valid to the American workforce. What a joke.

It’s the same BS every year .. although it seems to getting worse. Many groups only ever see 1-2% increases and they have to pick one person per team to get a 2 so they can justify the no increase or RRP.
in my department salary adjustments go to men and the women are denied.

Can't wait to get back to that office. The overlords need their commercial real estate investment doing well. Love commuting for over an hour, wasting gas, time, energy. back and forth. then company meetings (propaganda and gas lighting) by corporate simps and cucks. Then if we get lotsa 4 and 5 grades from our master, they might maybe perhaps give us 1.75% "raise" (cough cough) and tell us we are "valued" and respected....what a clown show! And the vast majority of USians believe this ex------t

We stand for health care. That we do NOT get in the US empire.

The issue is we already pay more than enough in taxes to fund universal healthcare. Instead we have the worlds largest military budget. Larger than the following 15 countries combined. And our corrupt government has half the US population brainwashed into thinking it’s 100% necessary to protect “freedom” ( zealous CONsumerism on credit and imperialism for corporations)

If one does not know history (not MSM "news" propaganda/gaslighting/misinformation), then they repeat mistakes. America/corporation was an oligarchy/plutocracy. Our job is to make our overlords/masters as much $ as possible as they bleep us and give us scraps and crumbs. Then, we're supposed to smile and say thank you. and chant usa,usa-like brainwashed fools

How can we get the UNION word floating around? I’d love to see the reaction. I’m sure it would never happen but I’d like their butts to pucker a little. Lots of companies are doing it. I’m not sure if it’s even possible with a company this big and with literally billions of dollars to fight against it. But In the mean time I’m just going to do enough work to not get fired.

This is a brainwashing and mindcontrol technique that is quite successful in the US. We see this the MSM ("news"), etc. and of course, corporations. Gaslighting. Don't fall for the lies no matter how many times they repeat the lies. They want consent. Manufacturing consent. Carnival of the conned.

1 is much easier than the other.

What a disappointing and embarrassing moment. Our “leaders” showed no integrity, compassion, or relationship in that chat, despite those being our first 3 company values.

UNH stock grew over 65% in 2021. Last year the company spent over $8B on stock buybacks and dividends.

The way this company has ignored recognizing the actual issues - those primarily stemming from the growing wealth and income disparity in the US - while attempting to gaslight their employees makes it evident to me that they see their employees as no more than a means to an end.

Then again, I’m not sure what I should have expected from a cabal of multimillionaire capitalists whose only real job is to “make stock go up”

Would have just shut that propaganda /gas lighting call right off. If they think that there's NO inflation etc.or some other massaging reality, then you k now what you're dealing with... a liar, a POS, a capitalist who wants us to work on the corporation plantation, get into debt, and hamster wheel into oblivion.

The 2% that does not cover cost of living adjustments (COLA). Huge inflations, just go to the grocery store to buy some "food" (most of its junk anyway-chemicals, corn syrups junk), and we get to be gas lit/psych oped by some corporatist/propagandist. Would definitely be looking for the 'escape hatch'

I laughed during that entire portion of the call. What a complete id--t! The raises are absolute garbage, a standard 2% that you have to take and give to at least try and compensate your top staff is sad. Not to mention the scoring structure where we HAVE to have so many 2,3,4,5’s and x-amount of 3’s don’t get a raise (but tell them a 3 is a good score). And the RRP… don’t even get me started. I’ve had dumps leave a bigger more positive impressions on my life than those. And YES, some employees got pay adjustments, several of my employees did. BUT, it was mostly people who had been with the company 10+ years. So think of that… 10yrs or more experience and the company FINALLY brings you the the absolute minimum of the pay range of your grade. Been underpaid and over experienced for years, new folks making upwards of $10k more right off the bat, and “here is the minimum… aren’t you happy?” And dude was proud of that. So now these loyal employees make as much as someone with 1 day of experience. And at the rate of raises, will be back below the base line within a year.

Here's the thing, your coworkers are not your friends for life. You might go to their wedding you might go to some lame happy time hour it doesn't mean that they are invested in your future well-being. When push comes to shove, corporate people will act like a little b**** if they think it's going to move them forward. The company buzzword is work-life balance and the way that I interpret that is to keep them balanced you have to keep them separated. People at work have no reason to know what you did this weekend. It's disgusting that this is a country. It's an oligarchy -corporate owned. You have no life, but debt slavery.

Not to mention the bs about the great bonuses that most of us will never see. And I personally don’t know 1 person who had their pay adjusted to keep it “in range” with the competition. Here’s an idea - how about being an industry leader instead of trailing behind? I can’t stand listening to him telling us how great we are, how hard we’ve worked, and how we need to buckle down for a tough future when he makes more than $1000000 per month or just over $6000 per hour. I guess it costs a lot to keep your ba&@s inflamed enough to lie directly to so many people. I’m just glad the topic was FINALLY brought up!

What an inspiring response. No wonder most of my colleagues and I are just mailing it in now!

He obviously isn’t impacted as we all are by the substantial increase in gas (as we don’t have private keys flying is around) or the cost of everyday grocery items such as milk and meat. We are the consumers and clearly can see and feel the significant impact of inflation and are feeling the crunch. How terribly unprofessional and out of touch…..

He is in bed with this administration and wants to gaslight the same way that inflation is overblown, or transitory. They think you are mo--ns who cannot think for yourself. He doesn't want any questions on why they are only giving 2% raises in spite of 7% inflation the gov is even willing to admit. I encourage everyone to start looking for new jobs to try and stay ahead. You will not get treated here fairly. Also your healthcare costs went up so your raise is basically 0.
