Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

How are people doing on finding good jobs?

I know there are plenty of available positions right now for those who are looking to leave but that doesn't mean that those jobs are any good. I've been applying for the last six months, I interviewed with three companies, and each time after I found out the pay they were offering I realized I'd been wasting my time. So am I doing something wrong or is it really slim pickings when it comes to good jobs?

AIG has a lot of employees they are overpaying relative to market (I have no idea what your contributions are, so maybe you deserve the high pay, but there's a market price for most jobs). Are you one of them? They do this because they were once riding high and spent recklessly, and companies don't often decrease salaries, and also because that's the only way they'll get new employees or keep flight risks.

Check out the average salaries for your job title on some website (glassdoor, payscale) and check out average pay for a sense check.
