Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

I am mentally preparing to return to the office

It's not a matter of wasting time driving to the office again, or the fact that I don't think it's necessary to come to the office at all because of something I can do from home without any problems.

Most people have resistance to RTO just because of the toxic work environment in the office. I think that's the biggest reason? I have to get mentally prepared to see some of those arrogant faces again.

Only losers view the successful people as self-important.

I really can’t believe they’re doing this to you. You’ve already been through so so much and I know you’re in a fragile emotional state. And to think that you’re going to have to work with arrogant and mean people! I will definitely be praying for you.

Love Mom

P.S. don’t forget to wear your warm jacket. I don’t want you to catch a cold.

Seriously?? Are you guys 13? You sound like a bunch of little girls who don’t want to go to the choir concert because the mean cheerleaders will there.

To the people doubtful about coming back to office, do y’all have school going kids yet? If 4+ year olds are going to school and doing great so far, why should your grown up a-s be worried ?
It’s time for millennials to drop the diapers and put on full pants. Believe me you will be okay.

Why is the office toxic? What is wrong with the open door policy? Where is this policy?

Well they let Hawaiian shirt guy work from Florida in hiding for a year before he “retired” - more rules for thee, not for me

Oil companies will lose a lot of people to other industries, it will be their loss not the employees who will be able to transfer their skills to more progressive industries like tech. All this in office collaboration talk is just management refusing to change with the times and unfortunately the only way to change their thinking is for people to leave (and in this hot job market it will 100% happen). The people against it are the ones retiring soon and if their is any hope recruiting into this industry changes need to be made.

All talk and no action. Just cry and cry about coming back.

How about you leave boomer? God knows you’ve probably been in this industry 30 years collecting oversized paychecks while helping to pollute the planet and leaving my generation to clean up your mess.

People who want to stay at home are very selfish in their attitudes toward the company. Go ahead and collect your undeserved bonus and just leave. Please just leave and do us all a favor.

Thank you for saying this. I agree the office is toxic and the open door policy and politics are the worst. I’ll be looking for a remote option for sure. Only management wants to be back.
