Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Worried about new job

Well, I was just hired on by Windstream today, and then I came to this place and saw the absolute dumpster fire of this company. I really want to give this company a chance because it’ll give me experience in something that I’ve wanted to do for years now.
But will I be able to succeed?
Will I be able to take pride in my work?
Does the union mean anything here?

I’m genuinely worried about my decision based on the things I’ve read here. And for those asking, it’s for a field service position.

Even though you just started it's time to get out. Don't waste your time with this company

Take it for what it is. Get the experience you can, keep your guard up theres a lot of two faced back stabbing goes on. Do not get emotionally invested. Payday, five o’clock, professional development if possible, move on to something better. It’s possible you could be in a better situation and see a career path, but don’t go in blindly naive. A lot of mid and almost all upper management will burn you all the way down if it means a chance at a bonus or an opportunity to kiss a higher ups a-s.

It is ILEC. Read somewhere in the union news thingy that Lumen(CenturyLink) is not having a good image because of the lack of fiber in their diet………..(for smaller metro areas and such)

Depends on if it is ILEC or CLEC to be honest.

CLEC side there is absolutely no future. ILEC side it will be dependent on your immediate management.
