Thread regarding Denbury Resources Inc. layoffs

Wfh

Love working at home! But enjoy the in person connection with my co- workers as well. I love the hybrid setup. Regardless of WTH or not I think growth is exciting! Even if WFH, employees still need an office workspace, so the fact that they are leasing the 5th floor is a positive thing!
I hope the company doesn’t use this page as their go-to place for employee feedback. I know HR is there to protect the company but it would be nice if someone would at least pretend to care and ask for employee feedback! Feedback from everyone, not just a select chosen few.

Technically inept is a real thing. I’ve been in cringe level calls where everyone has their speakers blasting into their microphones. These people almost never wear headphones, and what’s worse is every time you speak, you end up interrupting yourself in their speakers. So bad so d-mb.

If your job is task-based, then your team & manager should know things are getting done. "Did the pipe get purchased?" Or "did the well get drilled?" Or "did the simulation end up being accurate?" If your job goes unnoticed and you can get away with slacking off at home, then is your job really that important?

I love working from home. If some people have the option we all should. What gives?

Sounds like some people are technologically inept. If you can't figure out how to work with others and collaborate remotely with all the tools available for such tasks, you may not be as smart as you think you are.

My thoughts are they’re lazy and milking it. Fire these deadbeats.

Hilarious how many people still haven’t returned to the office. Will the company every force them to return? Covid 1984 is officially over y’all. We’re at war now, so what’s the excuse with many who’ve never worked a day in the new building?

Sounds like work is interfering with personal time for some people.

Not sure what kind of person thinks that the only possible associated benefit to coming the office is for socializing. Most people actually work in groups and/or work with other departments. The company gave us a hybrid schedule. Not good enough for some who don’t want any office time because it’s costly (?) to the company and takes time to drive to and from work. I think the company gets to decide the cost/benefit ratio themselves. And you get to decide if the paycheck is worth the drive. Welcome to the real world.

I have yet to see anyone get fired. Everyone has quit. They may have been miserable but never fired. I dont know what fake news is about that. Been with the company 10 years and no one has been fired in my area so explain fake news?

“Ridiculous amount of documentation” is clearly engaging in fake news.

In reality the a-s kissers get promoted, and anyone who’s not a yes man gets removed.

Really? Seems like a lot of firings lately. Usually they disguise them as a “layoff” but lately they don’t!!!

Managers don't have the power to fire anyone unless they have a ridiculous amount of documentation so please stop with that garbage.

Employees who are incompetent, lazy, and have zero work ethic sound like a poor performing manager problem…

Let’s re-read the last email slowly. Take it from, the top

Physical office space in DFW comes at how many dollars per square foot per year? What is the monetary gain associated with that cost? Talking about numbers here, not your social credit score

In response to the reply on this post, there are more reasons than needing social validation that you need interaction with your coworkers. There are a lot of incompetent, lazy people out there that have zero work ethic. They need to be babysat and held accountable.
I really hope that this is not where the world is headed. I’ve never played bridge or been in the boy scouts but I’m glad I’m capable of socially interacting with others in-person and haven’t lived my life solely as a keyboard warrior.

Talking about numbers here, not your social credit score, no one cares about that… this is a company not a bridge club. Join the Boy Scouts or something if you need people to validate you that bad.
