Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Getting worse at the most important

I am seeing a general trend that VMW is getting worse at what customers need most. Things like quick deployment, advanced automation, scaling up management tools, quick response times and updates from Support, and quick fixes and product enhancements from engineering. I know these are not the fault of the individual contributors within any particular business unit. These are the results of years of leadership lack of vision, competency, and investment.

Yes, there seems to be a lack of foresight to invest in the areas you mention. It seems to be a squeeze for a sale or something. At a time when we are supposedly making a transition from on Premise perpetual software licenses, to a more hybrid and SaaS world it seems absurd that we would penny pinch on the areas where agility is of paramount importance.
I think it’s very sad to see a great opportunity missed for short term shareholder and exec management gain.

Cash flow. With Dell split, there finally is some cash flow to invest in ourselves. Have a little faith that someone somewhere will put budget into scaling the business to handle thousands of partners and millions of customers without trying to spend the money instead on prolonging the slow decline of on prem.
