The Real Bonus Disparity Issue: Ford vs. GM

GM: 13% bonus plan * 200% (2021) = 26% of salary for grade 7b (Ford GSR8)
Ford: 6% bonus plan * 108% (2021) = 6.48% of salary for GSR8

I am p--sed off.

@1etk+1fijvwJZ - sorry to see most mssed the sarcasm

@1stc+1fijvwJZ - i may agree with your sentiment but upper level management has proven repeatedly they DGAF about us doing the work. the sad part is that if they DID encourage hard work and take care of those doing it well the whole company would prosper and all of us would be better off

Yes, the Detroit News confirmed that number for GM.

Is this true GM got this much bonus?
So level 6 GM at 10% got 20% instead?

It is funny a number of people from our group quit and went to GM in a similar IT position. The two who were hard working rock stars have flourished at GM. One quit GM because he had to work too hard at GM, one was fired from GM, three are complaining about how hard they are having to work at GM and are looking for a cushy job, in fact they want to come back to Ford. Ford will probably hire them back, even though they never did any work at Ford to speak of.

I've work at Ford over 27 years and I work hard. The people who say they didn't hardly work here and are now at GM, I glad you left! The upper management has to realize the people at the lower levels are the work horses in the company and should be getting the higher profit sharing. The upper management might make the decisions on the way we are going but the lower levels work their a-- off to make sure they succeed.

No, we anti-union folks simply think people need to learn to leave companies to do what they need to do to stay competitive, relevant, and in business. I couldn't give two craps less what some company, other than the one I work for, does for their bonus situation. Good grief.

You anti-union folks glorify the way companies pay different salaries and how paying the same is not fair but all of a sudden you are pi---d because a different well-run company pays more bonuses? And you want the same bonus structure? Oh well life sucks Ford

@1etk+1fijvwJZ you really have no idea how much it costs to manufacture a BEV and how very difficult it is going to be for a long time to make money.

When the wildly successful BEVs out number the ICE sales then the profits will really be rolling in. The glory days are coming.

General Motors has a very positive and motivating environment. Ford is a chaos. It is hard to get work out of long term Ford employees. We all know that. Matter of time we accept it. Ford job is like a govt job. You can be missing in action and nothing happens. People are building retail businesses while working at Ford.

GM is not a morgue like Ford. People work at GM. Do actual work. Most lifers are a burden on Ford and don’t do a thing. GM has accountability. Been a contract employee at Ford in past and now proud GM full time employee. People are expert at Ford for passing the buck. Lifers are spoiling it for hard working young employees

The Detroit News (Feb. 14, 2022)

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2022/02/14/ford-double-bonus-payments-some-salaried-employees-after-outcry/6790097001/

"And, the employee said, some talked of leaving the company after hearing about GM's 200% payout. GM confirmed the accuracy of that performance factor: "We had strong performance in 2021, and with our global variable pay incentive program for GM salaried employees and hourly profit sharing, when GM wins, all of our team members win," GM spokesperson Pat Morrissey said in a statement."

Uh, isn't the GSR8 base bonus a flat $9,500 across the board?
