Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Any rumors on packages coming?

Just curious if anyone has heard discussions about any packages coming out to thin the herd.

Anyone working on parts associated with ICE are going to be trimmed as the company goes into maintenance mode on these products.

PD cuts will be heavy. No PRP or luxury packages.

If “leadership” layoff employees and think they can hire replacements, good luck. Who in their right mind would want to work for Ford with these money grabbing greedy so called leaders? Joke

Last “credible rumor” floating around was the suggested lists were to be formulated mid March, formalized late April, delivered May.
Targets include

  • Ford Credit (all departments that have an off shore presence, including IT)
  • ITO (off shoring and out sourcing)
  • Ford IT (programmers, analysts, architects; again off shoring)
  • Accountants (off shoring, automation)
  • Engineers, legacy products
  • Dealership support
  • Marketing
  • Special projects teams
  • LL6 whose teams have transitioned off shore, to be replaced by off shore leadership
  • LL6, LL5 who need to be removed to make room for promotions of trending demographic.

Yeah, at our pay scale, good luck on the hiring. Amazon just doubled their max salary for developers. $350k. Ford think they can get 3-4 people for that amount. OUT. OF. TOUCH.

But keep letting the Ford family control things with their preferred stock. Just like the Lions.

Yes, there are always rumors going around. However, as someone already as said, there are also trying to hire a bunch of talent, too - software Engineers, anyone with battery or BEV vehicle architecture experience, etc., etc. Trouble is, we can't hire anyone at the moment, and has nothing to do with hiring freezes. Having trouble getting people to accept offers, mostly due to pay scale.

So, I am thinking if there are going to be layoffs, it will not be like it was during SRD where nearly every department took a haircut. It will likely (have to ?) be very targeted in select areas that are on the way out under the Ford + plans. I'm thinking legacy IT systems, ICE product engineers, back office type work .....they will look to offload that as much as possible to India or Mexico business centers.

Seen nothing. Though there are a lot of rumors. It is usually a first step before just out and out letting folks go. They did offer targeted packages last year, so maybe that was the first step? And now they are onto plan B (IE layoffs)? Lots of rumors swirling of headcount reductions, and not just PS, Agency, and open positions either.

If you have turned down the packages in the past that might not have been a good move at this point.
