Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Why is last years AICP at 50% (when topped up) & this years at 54%

Yet the hourly workers profit sharing checks will more then double this year compared to last? Am I missing something?

Don't forget, Kumar said the AICP is different for LL6 and GSRs because it is what we wanted. As if we have any control over what they set the expectations to be. Heck, they don't even let us know what the expectations that we need to meet are. I feel like they are blaming the victims. Ford Salaried workforce is ripe for unionization.

I missed part of the Kumar show with regards to the breakout of the AICP for GSRs and LL6. But I was told that Ford Credit was not included because their employees felt the rest of the company was bringing them down? Not able to confirm this!

"$5,130 bonus for GSR8 seems way too low, are you sure? it should be over $20K just to come anywhere close to what GM offer"

Yes I am sure. I have already done the compensation planning for my team. Unless they make adjustments later this is what GSR8 will get. And yes, it is complete BS.

And to other posters, don't confuse the tax withholding rate with the tax rate. The bonus is taxed as ordinary income at whatever rate you end up paying (likely <20%).

I am shocked at the disparity between Ford and GM’s payouts and structure. They are both competing for the same employees…so why would Ford’s be so much less? I don’t expect them to be exactly the same but there’s no way an average GM salaried employee should be getting 5x their Ford counterpart. Not after the earnings year Ford had. Something’s not right…maybe Phoebe Wall Howard can stop writing PR pieces on Farley for a minute and do some digging on this…

I am starting to hear they younger salaried folks are starting to look elsewhere. In fact, heard a young engineer turned in his paperwork the day our AICP was announced.

The good news is that when you do your taxes next year you'll get some of that back since it will be calculated as just normal income, and taxed at the normal rate. The higher rate is just got for the withholding since it is a bonus.

@1brz+1fcNZAzG - but that's what it is. The total AICP is announced beforehand, the metrics adjust how much is actually paid out... although we don't get told the actual formula. And the take-home is even worse since it's taxed at the highest rate, "just in case" it'd put you in that bracket. Thus $9500 x 0.54 x 0.65 = less than $3500 in the pocket. Basically just an extra $275/mo of spendable cash for the year. Less than some people's power bill every month.

Ever since they changed the salaried formula, GM salaried has always done better than Ford. This goes back many years. FWIW, the change benefited the unionized Ford work force. You can call BS on this comment all day, but if you are older than 50 you know it is true.

I agree this is beyond our control, I'm just shocked about the large disparity in bonus between ford and GM, I would think ford management would keep that in mind when making these decisions, but its non of my business and it is what it is

I will take my AICP as I don't have anybody else giving me over $5k.
The world is as we see and make it.

The target for SG8 was $9500, so at 54%, they will get $5130.

so whats the nominal for gsr8 assuming you get 100% for company. for example, in GM the nominal bonus is 13% of salary for 7 level ( i think equivalent for gsr8) , of course with 200%, employed will get effectively 26% of salary bonus, more than 3 months of salary as bonus

Does anyone know what the LL5 and LL4 bonus targets were?

We keep coming up with names for our re-orgs/ slogans....Beat Toyota (failed), Ford 2000 (failed), Smart Redesign (Failed), One Ford (BS), the Way Forward (OK)...don't forget "Our Employees are our biggest asset (Not anymore).

And compare this to GM - they get 200% of target. The target is typically around 13% of salary for a GSR. So for round numbers $100k salary gets you $26k in bonus this year.

2022 AICP target will be set at a jelly of the month club for GSR8s
GSR7s will be every other month
GSR6 will be a quarterly jelly basket
Let's all work hard this year towards a 100% payout!

Well of course the mechanical product people are no longer needed. The company is transforming to a data center and electric vehicles. This is where the profits will be going forward from now. If you do not know software, data, and connectivity, then you are finished.

I heard a report Joe wants all federal employees and federal contractors ( which Ford claimed we are ) to be unionized. I wonder how Bill feels about that !

ONE FORD!

That now means: LL5+ get 135% of their already much higher bonus target. UAW workers get double profit-sharing and don't need to be experimentally vaccinated. Meantime GSR/LL6 salaried? SC--W YOU! GO GET THE VAX OR YOU'RE FIRED! OH and here is your pittance 2% merit, 4% increase in AICP, and enjoy Joe Biden, who Jim and Bill love and adore, and his 7% inflation rate!

It is consistent with what this management had been doing in the past three years. They had been telling you that you are no longer needed in many different ways.

Welcome to Ford, where the salaried workers get screwed when it comes to health care costs and profit sharing.
