Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Do we need the office?

Do we need to go back in to offices? Does anyone (non-manager) want to?

It’s not just the owners of commercial buildings, it’s the municipalities to which they pay property taxes. If these big building owners go bankrupt, what does that do to the cities revenue? So, I think we all just pretend to go back, maybe show up once a quarter, and businesses will pay rent, all will be well.

It's propaganda of the wealthy people.
In general, lots of big corporations do not own commercial buildings.
People who own the commercial buildings are working with big corporations' top executives to promote back to the office.
Commercials building owners: Get to maintain/increase the value of their assets.
Top executives of big corporations: Get certain benefits from their wealthy friends.
In the end, somebody got to pay for the price, and most of the time it's the average working employee.
Conclusion: The rich get richer and the poor get poorer

Nobody works at intel so it doesn't matter return to office for intel employees. Everybody working at intel are busy inflating their titles instead of working.

Wouldn't doubt there is some incentive $$ dangled in front of managers to get people back into office.

I am definitely in the camp of looking for other 100% remote opportunities. The office environment, particularly at intel, is fake and led by a bunch of sociopaths trying to constantly manipulate you.

Yes, get back to the office and pretend to work like you did before. Go out to lunch, take extra fruit, and pilfer office supplies.

I was just reading about Goldman forcing all employees back into the office 5 days a week and about half showed up. Seems like a hard way to retain talent now that the genie is out of the bottle.
