Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Back in the office fun

So...I am back in the office, never realized how smelly my coworkers are. It gets worse at lunchtime when I get a smell of canned tuna or some ethnic dish.

Citi has an opportunity to play work from home permanently as a win or favor to the employees. They could, if they chose, to sell it as “inflation is so high now, look at what we are willing to do for you. We can’t raise everyone’s pay but we can lower your cost of living by allowing you to work from home which in turn will save you $ on gas, dry cleaning etc….” But no, they choose another route. I believe they relish in some aspect higher cost of living. It makes you more dependent on the job especially if jobs become scarce which in turn makes you more compliant when it comes to cracking of the whip to make bricks without straw.

I haven't gone back to the office and no one has said a word. Maybe because I do not have a team at my location or have zero in person meetings.
I cringe just thinking about having to go back.

Its all about Citi control. There is no reason to come back into the office.

Anybody who recd an exemption can be unvaxed and was told to work remotely until going forward. Only those who refused vax and did not get an exemption were let go.

@klw+1fYEArHT good for you! I mean that! I read all the smug comments from Jane and HR, did they actually not follow through with dismissal? Hoping they came to their senses.

JPM is back to bau hiring methods.

Yeah, well it freaking sux, I can tell you that, especially with the higher gas prices. Since I’m NOT in a customer facing role but am having to come into the office, I gotta tell you, job postings external to the company that allow work from home 100% are looking more and more appealing.

I’m still unvaccinated and working from home. I don’t miss that at all.

Go back to the office to encourage collaboration is an excuse and the real reason.
The real reason is to justify the purchase of the office building.

For collaboration, I guess I can see that for marketing, sales, face to face customer positions but for others, not so much. Number crunchers, technical roles etc… can do all their work from home and probably excel even more so but management does not care.

You’ll do what you’re told or….wait for it…..wait for it…….”if you don’t like it leave”.

Yes, the ungodly stench of some folks' food, 'ethnic' or not, even fish, tofu or popcorn... I am so glad to be home and not smelling any of that :D
