The time for Hitachi Vantara taking an unfare advantage of its employees needs to STOP! Working conditions here are at an all time high and we need a change. Let's welcome union orginizers and get higher / fair pay.

....and now Apple workers are looking to unionize.
Well said 'JustGo.' Vantara has been a dismal company for many years with direction. I think the Unionize idea is just an act of frustration with the workers being mis-treated for past decade. There's an old saying 'you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig'. HV has been a company parading itself as a cloud company which it is not.
Unionizing would not fix the problems at Hitachi--at least not the main one. HItachi (Vantara) lacks any type of strategy. That's why we are in decline. Gajen seems like a really nice guy but (in my amateur opinion) he's a terrible CEO.
There are two factors to focus on to stabilize and grow profits: growing revenue and reducing costs. The preferred method (and more difficult) is to grow revenue. That requires vision and strategy, and long-term execution. You can't force or regulate this, so unionizing won't help here. Reducing costs is quicker and easier. It's the only option when you are given a short-term ultimatum. Unionizing will help put limits on how this is done. However, that can backfire and hasten the demise of the company. So, you can force the company to keep you on the ship, but the entire ship might sink as a result.
If you are unhappy with how you are treated, I don't know why you wouldn't just go elsewhere and get a pay bump in the process. In my opinion, unionizing at the professional level is throwing a tantrum to demand what you want from your employer rather than taking responsibility for your own career, making yourself valuable and finding another employer that will willingly give you what you want. Nobody is sentenced to work here. The days of a 40-year career at a single company with a gold watch and pension at the end of the rainbow are long gone. That's either terrifying or liberating--depending on how you approach it.
There maybe some truth to this. Amazon is on deck and yes ... Amazon is a tech company.
Just look what happened to the CEO at Starbucks. Nothing makes these companies shiver in thier boots than a uniom.
Hitachi Vantara is a complete joke. No one in the industry takes them serious. The laughing stock at conventions.

Hey Dill Dude, you don't understand how these criminal companies operate. When HQ hears any noise about a union sniffing up thier bu-t, things start to change. Fast, real fast. You're probably too stupid to realize this and are drunk drinking the Kool-Aid.
Dude—get a new job. IT is a competitive industry where you can do really well if you keep current. If you differentiate yourself, you can do extremely well.
Unions work on the assumption that workers are interchangeable. I don’t want that.
If you think you need a union to protect your a-s you need to really look at how much value you bring.
