Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Former HTX SLB, is your new company better?

To those in the Houston area that left or were let go:
Is your new company better? Care to share company names? As frustrated as I am, everyone I know is dealing with same sh*t in a new box.

I don’t miss the leaders at SLB that regularly ignored the right thing and always did the political beneficial thing. My new job is with another big company and pays slightly less, but the work environment is hugely better. The opportunities are also shared openly, which allows for one to consider a move. We all seem to row together toward our objectives, which wasn’t the situation at Schlumberger.

Moving on was not a big issue. Still communicating with old colleagues. The one problem is missing Alice. Not seeing her or talking with her on a daily basis is difficult.

I'm in the same boat as @uke+1fXhbKev. Left last year of my own volition. Moved to a smaller company (5,000 employees) with better benefits, more time off, a higher salary, and a promising future (software). Oh, and it's 100% remote, which is what I wanted.

It was hard for me to leave after 10 years because I really loved my coworkers. My advice: Keep your eyes open and don't be afraid to make a change. Sometimes you have to take a chance and see what happens. If you're not happy with a new employer, you can always look more.

I was working at HFE and left last year. It was difficult to say goodbye but I have no regrets. I work for a smaller company (in terms of employees count) with better benefits, more holidays and a much higher salary in an industry that is in growth.
I highly recommend for you to look around. There are plenty of opportunities elsewhere to have a better work environment and make more money.
