Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Is this a new HON trick or an old one?

Its been a weird and stressful 4 weeks, I was told my position was being eliminated due to a restructure and I would receive a severance package. A job req was opened for my position and I was told skill requirements are different due to which I will not qualify, so I never applied for the job req and job req closed within a week. Then I got a mail from my manager wishing me all the best and support for any other role within HON. A week later same manager sets up meeting and talks about my 'skills'. HR reaches out with interview invites for a role I never applied to. The interviews are just chats and after the process I am asked to apply formally. Today I was told I got the 'job' and need to transition in 3 weeks. The problem is that its exact same job and title, the job location has changed but I have been told not to relocate.
It looks like HON is going out of their way to show job creation in some locations and have found a new trick (or is this an old one)

If you have an as----e for a boss, you'd experience that no matter where. Not specific to Honeywell. It applies to all companies. The boss is one of the most important factor that decides if you have a good job or not. If your boss jerks you around, not worth it. Find another job or boss.

Honeywell is just like Amazon, they don't give a cr-p about the employees, and won't hesitate to violate your Constitutional rights!!

What you described is common in Honeyhell. However forced to interview was a bit odd. Typically you won’t get any official severance paperwork until the very last day. That way Honeyhell can change their minds. Or if you leave for another job then no severance

Happy I resigned last month. HR in Honeywell felt always like an internal police departement. Not like I have experienced in other multinationals, there to support employee development. HR in HBT is the worst you can ecperience.

Old HR method of removing all your legacy benefits. Never ever trust your local HR as they are looking at the sake of the company more than the employee. I mean, with 2 Karens at the helm, it is no wonder HR is viewed more as a scheming plotter rather that people-centric.
The quarter is about to end, and the results are bad. MM is going to draw that long sword to slice through the organization to increase the margin yet once again.

They are setting you up to take away your severance. I was a director and saw this evil scam play out many times.

@OP Stated "The problem is that its exact same job and title, the job location has changed but I have been told not to relocate."
So you do the same thing with the same title from the same building?
How is that a problem?

This is standard procedure.
I have seen it happen many times. Sometimes it works out.
Take the job. Start your search for better treatment.

If you don't take the location then you resigned and don't get the severance

you should be pleased. Looking at the effort they took to "place" you they obviously value your contributions, which is a nice testament to your efforts on the job.

I don’t work for Honeywell. Your story is bizzare.

Take everything with a grain of salt, but they did get you with another open role instead of severance. Don't trust management 100%, probably shuffling people around though.
