Thread regarding Optum layoffs

PTO question

If I quit, am I able to cash out any remaining PTO hours? Anyone gone through this personally with leaving Optum? I think I’ll have about a week of unused vacation days and I’d rather cash out if I can then use them!

Why not write a letter to your politicians and see IF they even respond. For all those taxes and fees we pay they should definitely respond promptly with a personalized letter--not formatted robot US nonsense non responses

Thank you, I have the $220,000 student loans (plus interest) at age 65. I know, I know. But they told me education debt is good debt. I thought getting an degree would help at the company. Now look at me. Man, and have medical problems in a place that does not even have universal health care...during a friggin' pandemic. I will see if I can file. Otherwise, what do you guys think I should do? Thanks.

I remember crying at night after working on a Saturday (had to or else get fired) and then it hit me. "I am miserable working. Would I be this miserable if I was living in an apartment on a couch with 4 other guys?" Probably not. I think sometimes we forget that the alternative might not be as bad as we are doing. We only live this life once. To be miserable and playing corporate American games is sickening.

Illinois mandates payout also.
Check with HR regarding your particular state.

I’m 65 and have $220K in student loan debt. They all said education debt is good debt. I have a lot of health issues and am only working part-time. I tried to get PTO time and of course the boss said no. What should I do?

Maybe ask your US politicians why the US empire has very few if any employee rights and protections of guaranteed vacation/holiday time like almost every Westernized country.

Only California mandates they pay them out. Use then before you hand in resignation and you can take NO pto during your notice. Personal first hand knowledge. Is why they GRANT pto at Optum, you do not earn it. Greed for the top brass and stockholders rule Optum and UHG, you are a cog in a wheel.

As soon as you put your notice in, they take them away. Use them up 1st...

The actual answer is that it depends on your state law. California - you get to cash out all hours. Some laws in some state can only cash a certain amount of hours or zero hours.

Nope. Use them first and then quit.
