Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Do The Math

Year i got hired in Women shoes in 2013 and i had 31 coworkers in sales with commission. I worked for 3 yrs and watched the numbers of coworkers drop. we went from 31 coworkers to 25 and by 2015 rolled around we was down to 20. The rumors started in 2015 of commission going and how if it did we would all leave to frolic in green pastures chasing rainbows . . 2017 we are now down to 12 coworkers. by 2020 ( despite pandemic) we had 8 people left.. today we are now standing at 2 people and one flex and no commission. so ask yourself this has it improved since 2013? NO !! around 2015 they also let go 13 managers in on year and replaced them with only half. 2022 you most likely had no more than 5 managers per levels for entire store. So now lets look at Loss prevention. Lp in 2013 had 10 guys by 2017 it had 5 now it has 3 . The position of yesteryear is AP manager ( gone) AP/ops (gone) sales supervisor ( gone) assistant store manager ( gone ) OPS/vS (gone) Now its every man for themselves in a free for all where everyone is doing everyone else's jobs.. so tell me this company isn't going under. #sears#kmart#bamburgers

Pour One Out for Our Homie
As the weekend draws near and you reach for a beer,
step outside in the night and tilt your bottle just right,
pour one out for our Homie
Five cents, half a dime, he always found time,
to listen, advise, coach, mentor, and guide,
after 28 years, his luck disappears, leaving behind tears,
pour one out for our Homie
The Red Star where talent once shined so bright,
has dimmed and now it's luminescence is slight.
Dedication, hard work, just make new leaders’ smirk
pour one out for our Homie
Sunday visits done sly, by unhappy ladies looking to find
an excuse, a reason, any justification, with one purpose in mind
If years and salary are high, so are chances of saying goodbye
pour one out for our Homie

You already know it’s time to leave, for a different store. Now is the time to leave, even if the job isn’t great or a dream job, base pay on job offers are higher than ever and you could at least make more.
I knew it was time to leave for 3 years, and I wish I acted sooner

They don’t pay me to “do the math”. I’ll tell you what a manager told some of my very lazy coworkers a few years ago, “Do your job!”

31 - 6 = 25 - 5 = 20 - 8 = 12- 4 = 8 - 6 = 2

Is that right?

I have seen the staffing go down consistently also. Amazing how stores are running now. The larger stores of course are better staffed. MTech in 2016 had a major round of RIFs on the tech side luckily I made it until 2019 when they decided to go third party support. Don’t get me started with AP I’ve mentioned that several times. Replacing people with cameras doesn’t cut it sorry.
