Can someone explain the logic behind returning to the office when nearly everything is done by zoom? Why are we wasting hours commuting only to sit in cubicles and then have meetings in a conference room with others on zoom? We could be doing this remotely with less hassle, less potential exposure to viruses, and no pointless commuting. The world has changed, but Mattel hasn't. I just don't get it. What is the point?

Jokes on them b/c anyone can get an online only job these days - it's never been a better time to get hired. Mass exodus coming soon.
Well you're certainly not tied to Mattel if you just want to Zoom in to an office and watch the clock for 8 hours. Find another company online and live your life on your sofa. Living the dream!
You're welcome.
Guess I'm moving to Russia then.
You nerds have fun sitting in LA traffic burning $7 gas to LARP belonging. I'll be kicking it with my friends, family and our pet bear(s) each afternoon as soon as I've finished my freelance projects for the day.
100% agree. RTO makes no sense.
Synergy, Teamwork, Contributing and Belonging can all happen remotely, just as they do at every other company that has changed with the times. Mattel is a dinosaur that doesn’t realize the meteor has struck.
Synergy. Teamwork. Contributing. Belonging.
If you like being home and isolated, move to Russia. Plenty of vacancies and a leader to die for!
Anyone else feel like their productivity takes a huge dive in the office compared with WfH?
Apparently, Mattel didn't like my reply because it was immediately deleted.
Anyway, they want you back because it's a control mechanism. That's it
Control...plain and simple.
They saw the worker class starting to take some control away from them, and they want it back. Want to see you at a computer. Want to see how many bathroom and coffee breaks you take. Want to make sure they are getting the full 40 hours out of you every single week...
