Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

overwhelming support for RTO indeed

"In a tight labor market, where there are 11 million open jobs, employers demanding a return to the office may find themselves short on the kind of diverse workers they all say they want to hire. They’ll also lose the many workers who reevaluated what was important to them during the pandemic, and decided to put family first. Around 61% of people who are working remotely are doing so by choice and not because their office is closed, according to a recent Pew study; earlier in the pandemic, only 36% were working from home by choice."

I told my manager I'll come in on days I don't have virtual meetings scheduled. He said fine. Too bad this company overloads us with meetings🙃

This RTO plan is ridiculous. No masks. No vaccines. No social distancing. If you're not comfortable with being on top of each other, hope you're faster than everyone else in booking a room for 8 hours. Maybe we can set up some cubicles inside Michel's office to help spread people out.

If someone gets sick in these first few weeks and dies, I hope their family sues Met.

Covid cases are rising in Europe with an increasing number attributed to a "stealth" subvariant of the omicron strain.
Covid cases have increased dramatically in the U.K. in recent weeks, and Germany continues to mark record high daily infections with more than 250,000 new cases a day.
France, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands are also seeing Covid infections start to rise again, aided and abetted by the relaxation of coronavirus measures.

Ignorant management is putting your life at risk.
COVID cases surging in China, and Europe coming to your office soon......
Be careful since management could give a cr-p.

Absolutely true OP.

The employer of a person I know required all the workers to return to the office. This person quit immediately. You see, she didn't need the job that much.

That employer is probably struggling just to continue operations, but must, because it is a public utility.
