Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

That's not my job

I used to be puzzled by people who just say It’s not my job when you ask them about something. How many times did you hear that?

I used to hate that kind of behavior, but now I say that same thing myself. The reason is very simple, no one wants to be engaged anymore, everyone works the bare minimum and no one is interested in the future of this company anymore.

DXC is a this is not my job company, I can't work on it because I have no WBS, there is a problem and can't be done on-time.

Especially India resources, but picking on them but its true! You don't hear there is a problem with the schedule but if we do this or that we can solve the issue faster.

Come on guys/girls and other lets get things done within our 40 hour week, but no more!

Don't say "its not my job", play the foward game and send/forward and email on to someone else.
If everyone who recieves teh email plays the same game, there will be loads of forwarded emails all giving the impression that everyone is trying their very best to help (when no-one is really).

Its a really fun game to see how far it will go, and each time your email pings with you on CC, you'll have a little laugh to yourself how pathetic DXC is

My high score is seeing 6 passes - until the original poster gave up and then ludicrously thanked everybody on the mail chain "for trying".

Try and beat it.

I try very hard to never say those words. When I know whose job it is, I do try to point them in that direction. When I don't know, I take a few minutes to try and help them find the right person. I'm not very likely to 'do' the thing in question, because it really isn't my job, and sometimes I have access that either has a stated intent of 'for emergency use only' or is just a side effect of some other access. If I happen to be able to do the thing for you, when it isn't my job, and don't know about some procedure or change control in place... now I could get in trouble. So yeah... I'm pretty good at deflecting folks, while still being as helpful as I can otherwise. :)

When teams / individuals are massively overworked, not saying everyone is at DXC but many are, it's hard to have the energy to get involved in things that aren't really within your remit.

A sane company knows you can't run teams/people at or above 100% all of the time.

Much easier to help other teams and assist on other people's problems when you have spare capacity.
