Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

They try to get us to stay by giving false promises.

Here it seems to have become common practice to give employees false promises that will never be fulfilled. My manager has given me false promises numerous times. I believed it the first time but now I am getting ready to submit my resignation. Of course it costs to replace people, but I doubt very much that Centene will stop anyone from leaving through such practices.

Id--ts! HR sucks! They are incompetent for the most part, direct your anger and grievances to the real culprits, the greedy upper management, I bet you anything they will get their big hefty bonuses!

What I found, prior to being laid off last year in the 3000 people dump, was if they need your skills, they will promote you. It didn't take long at all. I was there many years and was promoted several times. I was older and a recently hired, very unqualified director brought in some minions she wanted to keep, letting several of us go that knew the job / product. The director and every last one of the minions ran for the doors as they soon found out that the people that were left were not the ones who could hold the dept together. Now we are all gone, anyone who was the least bit good bailed out of that dept and the clueless director's group are gone. The dept has gone to he** in a handbasket. It truly disintegrates by the day. All of us who got laid off have nice jobs at other companies and it didn't take long to find those jobs.

I love that people keep saying HR responding on these. I posted the first comment and having been promoted 2 times now, I kind of know its a slow process that took a lot of communication with my manager

HR responding again. I have a rule. Bring up discussions twice with a manager. If nothing changes you make your own assumptions and plans accordingly. Life is too short to beg for what you need, want, work hard for, or deserve. You can find it elsewhere so smile and tender your notice when you do.

How many time did you discuss this with your manager? Its not a fast process to get promoted, so ongoing communication is key.
