@1fsx+1fFkECEP it's already started in California. Buddy of mine woke up this morning to his gas door open and the tank empty. Couple of his neighbors found the same.
If gas gets into the $10 range, price won't be the only problem.
Parking your car in a lot will become a gamble as to whether someone will pry your gas door off and siphon your gas out. Worst case, they'll cut the gas line below (criminals aren't super bright).
Prior to 1974, locking gas caps were a rarity and most gas fill doors didn't lock.

But they will care if other companies do something related to gas prices (more WFH), and they might do something if they can tie it to planting trees or picking litter. Or if they can tie it Ukraine, like "we're working from home in solidarity with Ukraine and against Russian oil".
They don't want to be the first one to the party, but they don't want to be last, either.

$4.45 for regular this morning. $5.20 for Sunoco 93.
If the price keep going, I predict that it WILL change the "Future of Work" to be essentially virtual.
It's a brave new world.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get this full remote position I'm interviewing for this week. Gas $4.50 in my area now. Can't afford to drive an hour to work with these gas prices.
