Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Hudson gutted. Still giving away funiture.

Went to the Hudson center for their curbside office furniture giveaway. Desk chairs, filing cabinets, desks, partitions, cafeteria chairs and tables all lined up on the sidewalk and being loaded in your vehicle all you want. Took home quite a haul.

While there I parked around the other side and looked in the windows. The place is completely gutted! Not a speck of furniture in the place. You could race cars in there with so much room. All monitors and TVs off the walls, areas painted over, and you can see what looks like squirrels running around in there. I assume we won't be going back anytime soon. People in the past said there were a few areas back in the office there for a while now but unless they are in the other area of the building or up on the second or third floor they aren't there now.

@2kdb+1fAqF3Hb Look I’m not the one that built a prison cell for their children out of discarded cubicle walls. Thanks for the tip on post quoting though

@1hrw+1fAqF3Hb as a long time employee that just left or as they think "retired" I was able to keep my monitors and other items. If you remember when they allocated us those "stars" to "select" items to be shipped to our home it was clearly stated that those items were for us to keep once we received them. It didn't matter if a person left 1 day after getting them or 1 year after getting them.

I don't know if that is different than those that started after that program happened or what and if so sorry to hear that.

I bet those chairs smell like bacon and swamp.

@2yvb+1fAqF3Hb was that necessary? Also, if you're going to tag another post, use an "@" before the post id

1qbj+1fAqF3Hb I’m definitely a fan of “eclectic” interior design, but I don’t think “cubicle farm” is on trend right now. I guess they are probably more sturdy than your trailer walls though.

@1jfq I tried. Standing desks were given to management before releasing the other furniture. There were still locking partitions good for separating children rooms and setting timeout stations in your home.

Is there a way to get one if the standing desk?

Why are people flocking to pick up those nasty seats? I remember walking by desks and seeing the ar-e stains and bu-t sl--e on all these chairs from the nasty f***ers this company hires. Just filthy beasts.

The inconsistency and waste within the company is astounding. When we were sending people home to work in March 2020, we were only allowed to take the bare minimum and definitely not office furniture (and people were told if you don't have a chair at home, buy it yourself, you can't have the perfectly good chair that is sitting empty in the office). And here you have furniture being given away or trashed at home office.

Also see the new computer package for new employees. Anyone starting after 2/21/22 can keep their monitors, keyboard, mouse, webcam, headset, etc. (everything except the actual computer), but all current employees/employees hired prior to that date still need to return their equipment when they leave the company. How does that make any fu----g sense? We're spending more money to ship this cr---y old equipment back to HOBI when someone leaves the company than any of it is actually worth. As if anyone is going to re-use a keyboard or headset that someone else has been using for years already.

Our area has been back in office at Hudson since last summer. We are on second floor and about 2/3 of our floor is completely empty with most of those areas cordoned off. We have to go in the main door at the security desk straight down the hall to the end and up either that one stairwell on the left or up one of the elevators. They have gates up going down the left hall towards the cafeteria and walled off with partitions going right into the office area on the first floor. We have been told there are vermin issues on the first floor and there is a stale woodsy smell on the first floor that has slowly came up to our floor over time. They are still giving us daily free chips and cookies and other items from the old store for free. Some expired but still tasty. It is pretty much no longer an office setting and feels like we are working in some sort of detention center as security is always walking through and we have a strict enforced area where we can go in the building. The restrooms have never been cleaner though lol.
