Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Easy money

When you don't care about the company you work for and the quality of work you're offering, you start making easy money. I used to try so hard and got screwed over again and again. Now I do only what I have to and even that I do half-assedly. They don't give a damn about hard working employees, so why should I try and be one?

Maybe you "get screwed over" because you are not the stellar employee you think you are. Perhaps your technical skills or you interpersonal skills need improving.

@OP If you are young, I would advise you to find another company where your skills and hard work are rewarded. First of all, we don't know how long before Ford goes bankrupt or layoffs all the NA employees. Second of all, working "half-assedly" will not make you feel better (secretly inside you know you are being forced to behave contrary to your competitive nature), and in time, you might get used to do cr-p (lowering your self esteem). My final argument is about wasting your time (which never looks important when younger), missing opportunities of learning, growth, and feeling competent or useful.

If you are not young, please disregard my previous advice. Old timers know already the value of time, we already had our achievements, and we are aware of age discrimination. So no matter how hard we try, we are not taken into consideration anymore. We are now in a race, hoping to get to retirement before Ford kick us out.

They care about only the following:

  1. Diversity employees
  2. Employees who work hard at sucking up

That’s it, all you need to know. Better off going elsewhere, I did,

We had the GR8's in competition for the LL6 positions. It was brutal. Working late, extra duties, long hours for years. Then the victors got the LL6 positions. Just to have the LL6 layer of employees wiped out. So sad, too bad. You are gone. Where is the incentive?

The poster has science on his side.

The long term studies of treating / rewarding everyone the same have demonstrated that the practice is extremely corrosive.
When everyone gets a trophy

  • the person who came in first place feels devalued and ceases caring and stops working hard
  • the person who came in last place knows they didn’t deserve the trophy and so their self worth is lessened and to make themselves feel better they snipe at the people who did deserve the trophy, which makes them feel even worse about themselves.

Ford basically gives everyone a trophy - Same merit increase, same bonus.
The standouts either leave the company, or become like the poster- don’t care and cease working. Since all the true leaders leave the company, the management team are all the people who would never get a trophy based on merit, ergo the corrosive culture perpetuates.

@tpm,

Exactly, the problem is a woke HR. Unfortunately this type of HR is everywhere, just get rid of people to cut costs and do it the easiest way possible. Before Ford I was at a large Tier One supplier, it was ran like a high school, by high school kids. If you were lucky to be in a cool clique you were fine.

Save your self the stress, and just do the minimum to get by.

To the first commenter, it isn't that I don't want to care, its that it doesn't matter. When they don't give incentives to those who are willing to run through walls for them, they won't have people willing to run through walls.

And their little townhalls and return to 10s, and Farley reading to us doesn't cut it.

Plus getting canned isn't all bad. You get severance and unemployment to get paid to find a new job.

This approach should work out well. In the past three years, the cost reduction targeted high performance and high pay. More work you do, more likely you get fired.

I blame HR. Yeah, bill influences them, but ultimately it is HR who dictates the policies at the ground level. HR is nothing but a bunch of woke leftists who cannot even prevent someone misusing company vehicles on a daily basis. But no problem putting people on unpaid leave then firing, for not taking a vax when they work from home.

Its like g-n laws, lets restrict and punish the ones who follow the law, but let the criminals slide.

And so, company morale is in the c rapper.

You are a very poor employee.
Please quit for your own good before you are fired.
Good riddance.
